Solar Water Heaters

Solar water heaters are devices that use the sun to heat water.

They allow significant energy savings, as the sun largely replaces the electricity, heating oil or natural gas needed to heat the water.

Solar water heaters are an ecological and economical way to heat water in your home!

We distinguish two types of solar water heaters depending on the circulation circuit of the heated medium:

Open circuit

Direct heating of the water used (the heating medium is the water itself that we will use). This arrangement allows for quick heating, but in hard water areas they often clog.

Closed circuit

Indirect heating of domestic water (the heating medium circulates in a special circuit, which heats the water through a heat exchanger). This arrangement is slow to heat the water, but does not clog easily even with hard water.

Open-loop solar water heaters are simpler and more affordable; however, they face issues in low temperatures (frost) because antifreeze mixtures cannot be added (the heated medium is the actual water used).

In closed-loop solar water heaters, the heated medium can be a different fluid (e.g., oil). If it is only water, it contains antifreeze and anti-corrosion additives to protect the system.

Depending on the number of energy sources that can be exploited, they are divided into:

Dual-Energy Solar Water Heater

The water heater operates using either solar energy or electricity (e.g., during cloudy days when solar energy is insufficient to heat the water). For this purpose, an electric heating element is installed inside the storage tank.

Triple-Energy Solar Water Heater

It functions like a dual-energy solar water heater but includes an additional inlet to utilize hot water from the central heating boiler as a heating medium. The installation of a triple-energy solar water heater requires appropriate infrastructure in the building, such as separate piping (per apartment in the case of an apartment building) connecting the boiler room to the location of the solar water heater (rooftop or roof).

Calpak Mark 5

Double-Walled Profile

A standard solar water heater has a single aluminum profile of 0.8mm thickness. The Mark5 model uses a double-walled aluminum profile with a thickness of 2.4mm from Exalco. The triple thickness and double-wall design ensure significantly lower heat loss and a much more robust construction.

12 Copper Pipes in the Collector

A standard solar heater typically has 7-8 copper pipes in its collector. The absorber in the Mark5 features 12 high-quality copper pipes from Halcor. This results in faster transfer of absorbed energy from the collector to the storage tank.

High-Transmittance Glass

A standard solar collector has 89% transmittance glass. The Mark5 collector uses prismatic, high-transmittance (low-iron) glass with a 91.5% transmittance, allowing a greater percentage of solar radiation to reach the absorber.

Press-Fitted Collector!

A standard solar collector is sealed with screws. The Mark5 collector is press-fitted, providing a superior finish and much better protection against moisture.

Aluminum Collector Back Panel!

A standard solar collector has a galvanized back panel. The Mark5 collector features a 0.5mm aluminum back panel from ELVAL, offering better durability and corrosion resistance.

Best Collector Insulation

A standard solar collector uses glass wool insulation. The Mark5 collector is insulated with 4cm high-density rock wool from Fibran, minimizing heat loss to an absolute minimum.

Aluminum Base!

A standard solar water heater has a galvanized steel base. The Mark5 base, awarded for its design by Red Dot, is made of aluminum, making it much easier to install and far more durable over time.

Stainless Steel Connection Kit!

A standard solar water heater uses a 16mm plastic connection kit. The Mark5 connection kit is made of 20mm stainless steel spiral tubing from Tiemme, resulting in better performance and greater durability of the closed-loop system.

Robot-Welded Tank!

Unlike standard solar water heaters, the Mark5 tank features high-spec enamel coating and precision robotic welding. This ensures greater longevity, with an expected lifespan exceeding 20 years.

High-Efficiency Closed Loop!

Unlike standard models, the Mark5 tank features a large and well-designed closed-loop energy system (jacket), which allows for faster water heating.
